[ oh no, they're cute

[ Ashley leans one shoulder on a wall to watch them, a fond smile spreading over her face. It's tempting to just let them work - it's work that still needs doing, and on top of that high-five being adorable, it's nice seeing something else Cayde's good at - but she doesn't mean to take long with this anyway. ]

Hey, guys. Nice work.

[ her gaze slides to Cayde alone. ]

Do you have a minute?

[Aw damn, and he'd tried so hard to avoid this exact 'can we have a minute' scenario. Well. Guess it's time to power through it. He plasters a grin on his face and clasps his hands together.]

Sure thing. What can I do ya for?

[ she holds up his note. ]

So, uh, I really like handwritten notes - as you probably guessed from my writing, my world mostly uses digital, so this was, you know, special.

[ there we go, lead with something positive. She takes a deep breath to prepare for the serious part. ]

But I just wanted to know: Did you read my reply? The text, not the poem. [ quickly: ] Yes or no's fine if you don't want to get into it, just please don't find another wire to fix.

[ she winces, that last part having come out more needy than she wanted. ]

[On the plus side: hey, he's big on handwritten notes, so if she likes that sorta thing he's always got that in his back pocket. But dang, she managed to head him off at the pass for his conversational line of egress.]

I, ah. Yeah. Yeah I got it.

Okay.

You don't have to say anything, but I thought about it some more, and I figured I was expecting too much, too soon, as well as not actually saying any of it. So, uh, that's on me.

[ she reaches out, her fingers light on his hood, wary of scaring him off again. ]

And I am sorry about Andal. I think I forgot to say that.

[ there. With his lack of acknowledgment of her first reply, she wanted to be sure he'd at least receive this one, and watching for his reaction's a bonus too, even if he doesn't actually answer her. ]

Anyway... What's a thot? Because I tried Yahoogling it and I think I understood less than I did before.

It was a dream of a memory, Ash. Emotions were runnin' hot with no context. So I don't think it's on anybody.

[He squeezes his eyes shut when she touches his hood and mentions Andal.]

Yeah ... so am I.

[He all but adds "every damn day" before moving onto the next thing.]

Oh I think it's what the kids these days are callin' folks who are ... shall we say, eager and generous with their ahem physical favors? Kind of a weird thing to get twisted about but what can I say? This is a different time.

[ from his hood, she runs a finger along his jawline before dropping her hand as she scrunches up her nose in thought over, well, thots. ]

Damn, twenty-first century Earth's weird.

[ she backs up against the wall, giving him the look of "I have seen you naked and I liked it". ]

Well, I know you're not rusty - unless you've gotten really wet or run into anything weird lately.

[ her expression softens into something more sincere. ]

And I hope you're not generous with your favors, 'cause I'd rather have those to myself. You're the only one getting mine.

[Cayde crosses his arms and shifts his weight to one leg, giving her a similar look, and mulls it over.]

You're a pretty lady, I wouldn't think you'd lack for offers. My luck must be runnin' hot.

[His tone is thoroughly flirty.]

Hey, I could say the same about a handsome man like you.

[Surely there are people more into robots than she figured she was. She smiles at him.]

Yours are the only offers I want.

[He steps toward her and leans forward, arms still crossed, one brow cocked.]

Well I got plenty. And they're all for you.

Good.

[Rather than following his lead and coming in closer, she sticks to her spot leaning back on the wall and instead tugs him in by his scarf.]

Seems like you're not a rusty thot.

[He allows himself to be tugged, closing the gap between them and planting his hands against the wall on either side of her shoulders.]

Mmm. Maybe I'm just your rusty thot.

[Her heart melts hearing him calling himself hers, even jokingly.

[But she can't help but laugh at this being combined with the rusty thot misreading, even as she puts her arms around his neck.]

[He bends his neck to catch her lips, with a sudden pause and adjustment so he doesn't smack her forehead with his horn.]

[ she didn't realize how tense his lack of reply to her text had left her until he kisses her and all that tension evaporates. With a contented sigh into his mouth, she kisses him back, slow and relaxed. ]

[Since the realization that this wasn't going to be a nuclear dressing down of his behavior in a dream, he's more relaxed as well. He leans his forehead against hers and hums in thought before breaking the kiss and speaking.]

So they got good ramen places out there in the spooksville desert?

You know, I'm not actually sure. I wouldn't call myself a ramen expert to start with, and when I don't make dinner, I usually get it on this coast. But I'll check reviews.

Well, sounds like a solid idea for a date night, then.

Mm, I was thinking dinner, we'll stream a vid, maybe [definitely] more favors if you're feeling lucky.

That's about the most perfect night you can ask for that doesn't include shootin' anything. Which vid you have in mind?

Oh, okay, so I don't have to take my Hunter out to the woods for an almost perfect night.

[ she's joking - she'd enjoyed the camping trip for how much less her technopathy drew on her attention with barely any networks around. ]

I figured we could scroll through the action section. Watch some shooting since we're not doing it ourselves.

Or to space. Man, I am such a cheap date.

[He claps excitedly, thinking of the possibilities of having all of Old Earth's archives at their fingertips. The Cryptarchs would pay out their nose for those files, and he gets to scroll through them for date night.]

I vote for cowboys! Or aliens. Or aliens and cowboys.

What about alien cowboys?

[He thinks about that for a fraction of a second, image of a Fallen vandal in a Stetson surfacing in his mind, and shakes his head.]

No. That just feels wrong.

[It comes out a bit more emphatically than even he expects. The idea of friendly aliens is a hoot but some things are theirs.]

[ Ashley, for her part, is picturing Liara and Garrus in cowboy hats, but she grins at his reply. ]

Alright, no alien cowboy vids.
